SHENZHEN, Oct. 19 (APP)-Marking a new chapter in bilateral relations, the Consulate General of Pakistan in Guangzhou, in collaboration with the Centre for Pakistan Studies at Shenzhen University, hosted the inaugural Pakistan-China Friendship Badminton Tournament on Saturday.

The event aims to establish an annual tradition celebrating the enduring friendship between the two nations.

In his opening remarks, Consul General Sardar Muhammad said, “I am delighted to welcome you to the opening ceremony of the first-ever Pakistan-China Badminton Tournament in South China. This gathering goes beyond competition — it celebrates a profound and longstanding partnership.”

Professor Dai, Director of the Centre for Pakistan Studies, announced that the tournament would become a regular annual event at the university. “We extend our deepest gratitude to Consul General Sardar Muhammad for taking the initiative and sponsoring this special event,” he added.

The launch of the tournament coincides with the 74th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China. Often described as an “Iron Brotherhood,” the two countries share a partnership recognized for its resilience and mutual trust over decades.

As part of the anniversary celebrations, the tournament highlights the vital role of the Centre for Pakistan Studies at Shenzhen University — the first institution of its kind in South China — in fostering educational, cultural, and academic exchanges. The center serves as a bridge for Pakistan-focused research, student programs, and business collaborations, enriching bilateral engagement.

“The Center is a testament to the shared vision of Shenzhen University and our two nations, reflecting our commitment to deepen mutual understanding,” said Consul General Muhammad.

This inaugural event sets a promising precedent for future cooperation, strengthening the resolve to enhance people-to-people, educational, and cultural ties between Pakistan and China.
