MOSCOW, Sep 10 (APP):Ambassador of Pakistan to the Russian Federation, Faisal Niaz Tirmizi on Thursday said literature was one of the finest ways of bringing nations and peoples closer together, as he addressed the inauguration of the Oriental Literature Hall at the Margarita Rudomino All-Russia State Library for Foreign Literature in Moscow.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Tirmizi congratulated Library Director Ms. Marina Zakharenko and her team on the opening of the new hall and appreciated the Library’s contribution to promoting literary and cultural exchange between nations. He also presented three books in Urdu and English to the Library on the occasion.
Referring to the growing popularity of Pakistani literature in Russia, the ambassador noted that the works of Allama Muhammad Iqbal and Faiz Ahmed Faiz had been translated into Russian and continued to be read and appreciated by Russian audiences, reflecting the deep-rooted literary and cultural affinity between the two countries.
“Literature is one of the finest ways of bringing nations and peoples closer together,” Ambassador Tirmizi said, underlining the enduring value of cultural diplomacy in strengthening people-to-people ties.
The newly inaugurated hall, unveiled as the Library celebrates its 105th anniversary, houses literary works in more than 50 languages, including Urdu, further cementing the institution’s role as a hub for global literary exchange.
The ceremony was attended by ambassadors and representatives of Palestine, Indonesia, the Philippines, Bangladesh, the League of Arab States, and the Chinese Cultural Centre in Moscow, reflecting the wide international interest in the event.
