BEIJING, Jun 27 (APP)::China has congratulated former Egyptian Foreign Minister Nabil Fahmy on his appointment as the new Secretary-General of the Arab League and expressed hope that China-Arab relations would continue to deepen during his tenure.
Responding to a question at a regular media briefing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said the Arab League is a symbol of unity among Arab states and voiced confidence that Fahmy would help advance ties between China and the Arab world.
Guo said China, as a good friend and partner of Arab countries, remains committed to strengthening solidarity and cooperation with the Arab side, addressing common challenges, and enriching the China-Arab strategic partnership.
He added that China looks forward to working with Arab countries to build a higher-level China-Arab community with a shared future.
