ZHENGZHOU, Dec 14 (APP): Located in the Zhengzhou Airport Economy Zone (ZAEZ) of Henan Province, the BYD Zhengzhou Factory spans nearly 1,000 hectares and stands as BYD’s largest facility both in scale and planned production capacity—a true “super factory” for the company.
Since beginning operations in 2023, the plant has produced over one million vehicles, generating an output value exceeding 170 billion yuan. It contributes more than 80 percent of Henan’s new energy vehicle production and has helped propel the province’s annual NEV output beyond 700,000 units, placing it among the top ten in China.
This was shared by a BYD Zhengzhou Factory official during a visit by a delegation of foreign journalists from Pakistan, South Korea, Ireland, Türkiye, and other countries, who were touring projects within the ZAEZ.
The delegation observed the remarkable “Henan speed” in action: the project broke ground in just 37 days and started production within 17 months. Today, it operates with exceptional efficiency, assembling a finished vehicle every 50 seconds and producing a battery cell every 3 seconds.
The group also visited the BYD Zhengzhou Race Track at ZAEZ—one of the world’s first all-terrain tracks designed specifically for new energy vehicles, following a similar facility in Hefei. The complex features multiple testing scenarios, including off-road sections, a race track, water wading and floating zones, a towering artificial dune, simulated ice tracks, and a low-friction ring road. It serves both as a public racing venue for NEVs and a technology “proving ground” for automotive testing.
Notably, its “hanging dune”—an artificial slope with a vertical height of 29.6 meters and a 28-degree incline, equivalent to a 10-story building—has earned two Guinness World Records: “largest dune bashing test field” and “highest dune simulation facility for dune bashing test field.”
