BEIJING, Oct. 19 (APP) – The 2025 China International Jewelry Fair in Beijing has put Pakistan’s gemstone industry in the global spotlight, attracting significant attention from international traders, collectors, and designers seeking new sources of natural beauty and value.

Exhibitors from Pakistan presented a dazzling array of emeralds, rubies, peridots, and topaz from the country’s northern mountainous regions, earning praise for their exceptional color, clarity, and craftsmanship.

In an exclusive interview, Muhammad Amjad, CEO of Beijing Hongbao International Trading Co. Ltd. (operating as Piedra Jewelry), stated that Pakistan is endowed with a rich variety of precious and semi-precious stones—including emeralds, rubies, topaz, aquamarine, and tourmaline—all highly valued in the Chinese market.

He noted that Chinese companies bring advanced mining and processing technologies, such as precision cutting, polishing, and sorting, which significantly enhance the value and quality of Pakistani gemstones. “These technologies make our stones more competitive globally, but more effort is needed in skill development and large-scale technology transfer,” Amjad said.

He added that collaboration with China can boost Pakistan’s economic growth through value addition, job creation, and improved mining practices, while international fairs provide vital access to global markets.

Industry experts point to Pakistan’s rising prominence in the gemstone trade, citing improved mining practices and growing participation in Chinese exhibitions. Enhanced logistics and e-commerce channels have also made it easier for Pakistani exporters to reach Chinese buyers.

At the fair, several Chinese companies expressed interest in establishing long-term partnerships with Pakistani suppliers, noting the competitive quality and growing demand for ethically sourced stones.

Bushra Naz, a Pakistani exporter of precious stones, believes that as Pakistan continues to modernize its processing and branding, it is poised to capture a larger share of China’s fast-growing jewelry market. She noted that the Beijing fair not only showcased the brilliance of Pakistan’s gemstones but also reflected the strengthening economic ties between the two nations.

It is noteworthy that Pakistan’s exports of pearls and precious stones to China reached $1.58 million during the first eight months of 2025, underscoring the growing momentum of bilateral trade. The China International Jewelry Fair, held from October 16 to 20 at the China International Exhibition Center, provides a timely platform to further promote Pakistan’s gemstone potential and strengthen trade cooperation.
