ISLAMABAD, Dec 11 (APP):Candidate for Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) Syed Ashfaq Hussain Shah Tuesday said his mission is to take Pakistan football to the ever highest level.
Addressing a press conference here, Ashfaq said he believed in future and not in past. “Once we win the PFF elections scheduled to be held on Dec 12 here, it will be our mission to take football to the highest level. I have a lot of experience in the game and time will tell what we can deliver,” he said and added departments have played an important
role in developing the game of football.
He said the tenure of federations’ heads must be restricted in the constitution. “We will convince FIFA about the football related issues in Pakistan. It is totally a misconception spread by some unwanted elements that FIFA will oppose PFF elections,” he said.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Football Association president Zahir Ali Shah, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf MNA Malik Muhammad Amir Dogar, Punjab Football Association President Sardar Naveed Haider and Islamabad Football Association President Ch. Muhammad Salim were also present on the occasion.
Sardar Naveed said: “We want to work from grass-root level but it cannot be done by sitting in air conditioned rooms. We want to work with all provincial district football associations for the betterment of the game.”
Syed Zahir Ali shah said it was for the first time that PFF elections will be conducted under the vigilance of Supreme Court of Pakistan. “Both football groups have been united for one single cause which was to save the game. After elections, within a year, change will be seen in football, he added.
PTI MNA Amir Dougar said the new upcoming team’s only priority will be football.
“There is immense talent in the country and the game of football is as much as popular in Pakistan as it is in other countries,” he said.
