FM calls for turning D-8 into economic power house

ISLAMABAD, Oct 26 (APP):Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi Friday underscored need for implementation of preferential trade, visa and customs agreements to turn D-8 into an economic power house.
He said this in an informal discussion with High Commissioner/ Ambassadors from Developing Eight (E-8) members countries here.
Minister of State for Revenue Muhammad Hammad Azhar also attended the session.
High commissioners from Bangladesh, Malaysia, Nigeria as well as ambassadors from Iran, Indonesia, Egypt and Turkey participated in open and frank deliberations focusing on future development of the organization.
The foreign minister stressed that bottlenecks and impediments causing delay in enforcement of legal instruments and agreements should be identified.
In addition, steps should be taken to resolve these issues expeditiously to make D-8 a vibrant and dynamic economic organization.
He shared with the participants that Pakistan remained committed to vision and objectives of the D-8 and would continue to accord high priority to the organization to achieve its full potential.
