Electoral Rolls revision campaign to culminate on Monday

ISLAMABAD, Aug 28 (APP): The Election Commission’s ongoing door to door verification campaign for revising the electoral rolls would culminate on Monday (Aug 29).
The twenty days door-to-door verification campaign was started to include the names of new Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) holders in electoral rolls from August 10.
During the Annual Revision of Electoral Rolls campaign, voters who have become disqualified owing to (deaths/cancelled CNICs) had been excluded from the rolls in the door-to-door verification process, said official sources.
Special teams visited the permanent addresses of the new CNIC holders for verification.
After door-to-door verification campaign, the electoral rolls
lists would be displayed at designated display centres, offices of
District Election Commissioners, Registration Officers and Assistant Registration Officers for public inspection from September 20
to October 10 for public inspection.
If desired, applications for enrolment/transfer, correction and
deletion of votes could be submitted on prescribed forms at designated display centres, offices of district election commissioners, registration officers and assistant registration officers.
The ECP has issued necessary instructions to all provincial
election commissioners, regional election commissioners, district
election commissioners, NADRA and all concerned to complete all the concerned to complete all the pre-requisites of the revision process
at the earliest.
The contact details of the display centres would be shared with media and published at ECP’s official website.
A mass media campaign has been planned for the event where general public. Voters could also check their vote status by sending their CNIC number to 8300 SMS through their mobile phones.
The voter count is expected to be increased from 93 million to 97-98 millions after the said revision process, the sources added.
