RAWALPINDI, Nov 06 (APP): Speakers at a seminar organised by the Rawalpindi Women University (RWU) on Thursday said that Allama Iqbal’s message remained a guiding light for the country’s youth, urging students to draw inspiration from his philosophy to meet contemporary challenges.
The event, titled ‘Fikr-e-Iqbal and Pakistani Youth’, was organised in connection with the forthcoming Iqbal Day (November 9).
RWU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Bushra Mirza, in her message, said Iqbal’s teachings served as a source of hope and direction for young people.
She said the university, in line with Iqbal’s vision, was preparing students not only academically but also morally, emphasising character, self-respect, and ethical leadership.
Spokesperson of the Gilgit-Baltistan Government Faizullah Firaq, in his keynote speech, said Iqbal’s thought provided a practical framework for youth development.
He said the foremost requirement of the present era was to translate Iqbal’s philosophy into action. Values shaped by modesty, compassion, empathy, and spiritual discipline, he said, strengthened national identity.
He said Iqbal’s concept of ‘Kkhudi’ was based on recognising one’s potential, practising self-restraint, and striving consistently to achieve one’s purpose. The youth, he said, should embrace Iqbal’s high resolve, gentle expression, and passionate commitment as qualities of true leadership, adding that self-belief anchored in faith formed the basis of success.
The State of Pakistan, he said, must remain paramount, and every individual should play their due role and contribute to collective progress.
He also advised students to use modern technology and artificial intelligence constructively, saying Iqbal stressed a balance between knowledge and action, moral discipline, and purposeful effort as pillars of national development.
At the end, Head of Department Dr Razaullah thanked the keynote speaker, while Additional Registrar Dr Huma Fawad presented a memento.
