BEIJING, June 26 (APP):Chinese President Xi Jinping met Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Friday where both sides agreed to elevate bilateral relations and jointly build a China–Bangladesh community with a shared future in the new era.
President Xi said China has always attached great importance to relations with Bangladesh and would remain a trustworthy neighbor and partner regardless of changing international circumstances. He reaffirmed support for Bangladesh’s sovereignty and development path, and called for expanded exchanges in governance experience, strengthened political trust, and closer coordination on core interests.
Xi highlighted China’s commitment to building an amicable, secure and prosperous neighborhood, adding that Beijing was ready to deepen Belt and Road cooperation, align development strategies, and expand collaboration in green development, digital economy, information technology, artificial intelligence, healthcare, culture, and education. He also proposed advancing regional connectivity through the China–Myanmar–Bangladesh Economic Corridor and enhancing multilateral coordination within the United Nations.
The Chinese President noted the 105th anniversary of the Communist Party of China and emphasized China’s continued pursuit of modernization through self-reliance and independent development.
Prime Minister Rahman congratulated the CPC on its anniversary and described China as a key and trusted partner of Bangladesh. He welcomed the elevation of bilateral relations and praised China’s development achievements as a model for modernization.
He reaffirmed Bangladesh’s commitment to the one-China principle, opposition to “Taiwan independence,” and support for UN General Assembly Resolution 2758. He also expressed readiness to expand cooperation in trade, connectivity, agriculture, technology, green energy, education, and health, and to strengthen coordination with China on regional and global issues.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi also attended the meeting.
