Dera Ismail Khan , Sep 30 (APP):The Water and Sanitation Services Company (WSSC) DIKhan has disposed of 4,297 tonnes of solid waste during its monthly operations, achieving 84 per cent waste collection efficiency while expanding its sanitation activities to improve cleanliness and environmental conditions across the city.
According to the company’s monthly performance report, sanitation teams collected and disposed of an average of 160 to 170 tonnes of waste daily, reflecting sustained efforts to maintain hygienic conditions in residential neighbourhoods, commercial areas and public spaces.
The report further revealed that the company carried out sweeping operations along 315 kilometres of roads and streets, while 88 kilometres of drains were desilted to ensure the smooth flow of wastewater and prevent blockages that could adversely affect public health and the urban environment.
The performance indicators highlighted the company’s focus on strengthening municipal sanitation services through regular waste collection, improved field operations and maintenance of drainage infrastructure.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) WSSC DIKhan, Syed Muhammad Arslan, said the company was making concerted efforts to ensure a cleaner, healthier and more sustainable urban environment through efficient waste management and consistent sanitation services.
He said the performance reflected the commitment of sanitation workers and field staff, who continued to perform their duties to maintain cleanliness and address the sanitation needs of the city’s population.
Arslan emphasised that effective waste management was essential for preventing environmental pollution, safeguarding public health and improving the overall quality of life. He added that the company was striving to enhance its operational capacity and ensure the timely collection and disposal of solid waste.
He also called upon citizens to play their part in maintaining cleanliness by disposing of household waste responsibly, using designated collection points and avoiding the dumping of garbage in streets, open spaces and drainage channels.
The CEO stressed that maintaining a clean city was a shared responsibility of the service provider and the community, adding that public cooperation was vital for sustaining the gains achieved through sanitation operations.
WSSC DIKhan reiterated its commitment to improving service delivery and promoting environmental sustainability under its guiding vision, “Clean Water, Healthy Environment, Better Tomorrow,” with a continued focus on efficient waste management and a healthier urban landscape.
