World needs spiritual tranquility, social harmony: Minister Imran Shah

LAHORE, Jul 17 (APP):Federal Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety Syed Imran Ahmad Shah said on Thursday that sufi saints had given a message of love, tolerance and brotherhood to humanity.
While addressing International Khidmat conference at a local hotel, he said that today world needed spiritual tranquility and social harmony.
Muslim Hands International chairman Pir Syed Lakhte Hassanain, Punjab Auqaf Secretary Dr Tahir Raza Bukhari, Islamic Ideology Council chairman Raghib Hussain Naeemi, Pir Muhammad Aminul Hasnat Shah, Mufti Ramazan Sialvi Ghalib Al Hussani from Turkiye and other religious scholars attended the conference.
The minister congratulated Muslim Hands International for organizing this conference and also welcomed guests from Turkiye.
He said, “Our hearts beat with Turkiye and it has always stood with Pakistan in difficult times.”
Regarding ‘Khanqahi system’ the minister said that ‘Khanqahs’ had not only been the centre of ‘Zikr o Fiqr’ from centuries but also been centre of social service and welfare.
He further said that people of all walks of life had been given respect in these ‘Khanqahs’.
Syed Imran Ahmad Shah said that sufi saints had played great role in areas of education, health, peace and morality besides playing ideological and practical role in Pakistan’s movement.
The Federal Minister said that real identity of Pakistan was attached with the message of sufi saints based on love and peace.
It was need of the hour to make youngsters aware of the teachings of sufi saints so that tolerance, brotherhood and culture of serving others could be promoted in the society, he maintained.
He said, “Let’s make a pledge that we will follow the teachings of sufi saints which unite hearts and eliminates hatred.”
He said that this conference was organized to pay tribute to social services of sufi saints.
The Minister said that sufis laid the foundation of society’s betterment and welfare through their character.
The Urdu translation of Sheikh Abdul Baqi Al-Hussaini’s book, “The Illuminated Path of Sufism in the Light of Quran and Sunnah,” was launched during the conference.
The conference reiterated the commitment to connect Pakistan’s identity with the message of peace and love promoted by Sufis and to introduce this message to the new generation.
