LAHORE, Nov 17 (APP): The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA), in collaboration with the International Labour Organization (ILO), organized an awareness session on ILO’s recommendations for SME formalization in the textile and auto value chains on Monday.
During the session, Muhammad Asif, DGM of the SME Division at SMEDA, delivered an insightful presentation on the advantages of transitioning from informal to formal operations. He highlighted key benefits such as enhanced productivity, better market access, and improved compliance with global standards. Asif also emphasized ongoing initiatives aimed at supporting SMEs and home-based workers through digital tools and capacity-building programs.
Participants from the textile, auto, and various other sectors actively engaged in the discussion, sharing valuable insights and challenges. The dialogue focused on how to strengthen the formalization process and promote decent work through collective efforts.
