Work on Multan–Vehari dual carriageway underway rapidly : minister

LAHORE, Jan 06 (APP):Under the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, work on the 93-kilometer-long Multan–Vehari dual carriageway is progressing at a fast pace, with half of the project already completed.
A comprehensive meeting to review construction progress was held on Tuesday under the chair of Provincial Minister for Communication & Works Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bharth.
Senior officers of the C&W Department providing detailed briefings. Officials informed the meeting that 80 kilometers of one carriageway and 20 kilometers of the other have been completed, marking 50 percent progress on the project. The dual carriageway is being constructed at a cost of Rs26 billion, with work continuing day and night.
Addressing the meeting, Provincial Minister Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bharth described the Multan–Vehari dual carriageway as a landmark development for South Punjab. He said the project would directly benefit Multan, Khanewal, Vehari and surrounding districts by improving travel facilities, boosting economic activity, reducing transport costs, and lowering fuel consumption.
The minister emphasized that construction would adhere to high-quality standards and assured that the dual carriageway would be opened for public use by June 2026. He underscored the government’s commitment to providing modern, efficient road infrastructure to enhance connectivity and economic growth in the region.
