DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Aug 28 (APP):The Wildlife Department Dera Ismail Khan Division, in collaboration with local police, thwarted an attempt to smuggle 45 long-legged Shikra-Hawks from Dera to Balochistan.
According to officials, the operation was carried out on the directives of Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Wildlife, Khan Malook Khan. The Shikra-Hawks, a protected species, were being transported illegally when the joint team intercepted the attempt.
A case has been registered against the accused under the Wildlife and Biodiversity Act, 2015.
DFO Wildlife Khan Malook Khan praised the timely action of the Wildlife staff, local police, and especially DSP Paroa Alamgir Khan for their cooperation, saying their swift response helped foil the smuggling bid and protect the rare birds.
