CHINIOT, Oct 07 (APP):The Punjab government has initiated a campaign on Tuesday to promote wheat cultivation in Chiniot district.
As part of this initiative, officers and field assistants from the Agriculture Extension Department are visiting farmers in rural areas to educate them on wheat cultivation and provide support, reported by APP correspondent.
Deputy Director Agriculture Dr Muhammad Shahbaz is urging farmers to maximize their wheat crop area, emphasizing the benefits of this initiative.
The Punjab government is offering subsidies on seeds and fertilizers through the Kisan Card, making it easier for farmers to access essential resources.  Dr Shahbaz informed farmers about this support, highlighting its potential to improve crop yields and farming efficiency. By providing these resources, the government aims to boost wheat production and enhance food security in the region.
This practice is known to contribute significantly to air pollution, and the government is working to minimize its impact. Announcements were also made in rural mosques to spread awareness about the importance of sustainable farming practices.
The campaign’s success relies on community engagement and participation. By educating farmers on best practices and providing support, the government hopes to achieve its target of cultivating wheat on 215,000 acres in Chiniot district.
