Sargodha, Jul 19 (APP): Commissioner Jahanzeb Awan on Tuesday said that Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) will play a crucial role in providing sustainable services to citizens and improving the overall quality of life in Sargodha.
He expressed these views while chairing a meeting of the district transaction team for the establishment of WASA in Sargodha. The meeting discussed the transfer of assets, including sewage, water supply, drainage, machinery, and human resources, from the Municipal Corporation and other departments to WASA Sargodha.
The commissioner emphasized that the establishment of WASA Sargodha is a historic step by the Punjab government, which will provide modern and standard municipal services to citizens.
During the meeting, the commissioner directed the departments to provide detailed information about machinery, vehicles, sewage, and water supply systems, drawings, records, and a complete list of employees to WASA. “WASA Sargodha is expected to be fully functional by August 15, as per the Punjab government’s directives”, he mentioned.
Jahanzeb Awan said that Azizullah Khan has been appointed as the first Managing Director of WASA Sargodha, who will assume his responsibilities on Wednesday. The commissioner instructed the departments to expedite the process of establishing WASA, including setting up an office, providing necessary facilities, and forming an organizational structure.
He also appointed focal persons to oversee the transfer of assets and liaison between WASA and the Municipal Corporation.
The commissioner emphasized that the success of WASA depends on inter-agency coordination, transparency, and commitment.
