FAISALABAD, Aug 05 (APP):Water & Sanitation Agency (WASA) has decided to construct 3 major underground water storage tanks for immediate drain out the rainwater in Faisalabad.
Presiding over a meeting here on Monday, Deputy Managing Director Engineering WASA Saqib Raza said that WASA had evolved a comprehensive strategy for immediate removal of rainwater from city areas. In this connection, 3 main underground water storage tanks would be construction. Paper work of this project had been started and it would be completed on war-footing up to May next year, he added.
He said that these tanks would be constructed near Dijkot Road, Tata Bazaar Factory Area and Iqbal Stadium so that waterfall in these areas could be drained out immediately and stored in these tanks. The stored water would be later on used for irrigation of various parks, he added.
He also reviewed various developed schemes under Annual Development Program and said that after release of funds, the pace of these schemes would be expedite for their early completion in addition to up-gradation of WASA disposal stations.
Director P&D WASA Hafiz Hassan Nasir, Director Construction Usman Lateef, Ali Ahmad Gill, Deputy Directors Sanwal Malik, Nauman Noor, Furqan Haidar, Hayat Randhawa and Faizan Shakoor were also present in the meeting.
