RAWALPINDI, Nov 07 (APP):The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Rawalpindi posted a record recovery of Rs270 million in October 2025, the highest monthly collection in its history, Managing Director Muhammad Saleem Ashraf said on Friday.
He stated that the Agency had also recovered more than Rs260 million in September and secured over Rs1 billion in the first four months of the current financial year, surpassing the assigned target. The achievement, he added, reflected an increase of more than 30 per cent compared with the same period last year.
According to the managing director, the results were driven by a strengthened crackdown on defaulters led by Director Finance and Revenue Rana Shamsur Rehman, as well as improved planning, effective monitoring and timely response to public complaints.
“We are a self-financed organisation and cannot afford laxity in revenue recovery,” Ashraf said, adding that all defaulters had been given a final ultimatum to clear their dues. He said the director of revenue and deputy directors had been instructed to disconnect water and sewerage connections of persistent defaulters without delay.
The managing director warned that, after the grace period, WASA would impose late fees, discontinue instalment facilities and proceed with legal measures including attachment of properties, arrests and service disconnections. He urged consumers to pay their dues promptly and “show responsibility as citizens”.
Ashraf said his office remained open to the public for suggestions and complaint resolution, and vowed to continue the Agency’s efforts for revenue collection “without yielding to pressure, until the last defaulter is dealt with”.
