RAWALPINDI, Feb 26 (APP):Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Rawalpindi Managing Director Azizullah Khan, in an introductory meeting after taking charge on Thursday, issued directives to enhance service delivery in the city.
Deputy managing directors, directors, deputy directors, assistant directors and sub-engineers attended the meeting, which reviewed ongoing water supply, sewerage and drainage projects and field operations across Rawalpindi.
Azizullah Khan instructed the officers that providing uninterrupted and quality services to citizens must remain the top priority. He emphasised the prompt resolution of complaints, regular de-silting of sewer lines, timely repair of manholes, and full functionality of disposal stations.
He called for increased officer presence in the field, effective monitoring systems, and accountability at every level. The MD noted that improving institutional performance, transparency, and teamwork would strengthen public confidence.
A deadline of June was set for the completion of projects under the Punjab Development Programme. Immediate installation of manhole covers and emergency capping of open manholes were also ordered, with priority given to addressing the issue of open manholes.
Strict action against illegal connections and enhanced revenue recovery were emphasised.
The officers provided departmental briefings, while the MD reiterated the commitment to deliver maximum relief to citizens. He indicated that follow-up meetings would be held every two weeks to review performance reports from previous weeks.
