WASA Punjab moving towards digitalisation

LAHORE, Oct 02 (APP):Under the Chief Minister Punjab’s Smart City Vision, WASA Punjab is advancing towards digitalization.
Through the Water Operator Partnership Program, modern IT reforms will be introduced in WASAs across Punjab.
In the initial phase, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) ceremony was held between WASA Lahore and WASA Murree, Okara, Sahiwal, and Hafizabad. The special ceremony, chaired by Punjab Minister for Housing Bilal Yasin, was attended by DG WASA Punjab Tayyab Fareed, Deputy Secretary Housing Waleed Baig, and MDs of the concerned districts. Director Mudassir Javed gave a detailed briefing to participants regarding the MoU.
The integration will include finance, revenue, call centers, complaint management, financial management system, vehicle tracking, live camera monitoring, and water meter system. Moreover, GIS infrastructure of WASAs, SDG targets, and real-time banking system will be implemented on a priority basis.
On the occasion, Minister for Housing Bilal Yasin stated that before the upcoming monsoon season, digital rain gauges and rain dashboards must be activated at a centralized level in all WASAs. He further emphasized that disposal stations, tube wells, underpasses, and critical sewerage points should be transferred to the SCADA system, and that the 1334 complaint system will be centralized across all WASAs in Punjab.
