RAWALPINDI, Jul 17 (APP):Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Rawalpindi was put on high alert to cope with flooding and any emergency as the Met department had forecast rain on Ashura.
According to the Managing Director (MD) WASA, Rawalpindi, Muhammad Saleem Ashraf, WASA Rawalpindi was on high alert, and personnel with heavy machinery were deployed particularly in low-lying areas to deal with any emergency on Ashura.
Dewatering sets and sucker/jetting machines had been deployed on the routes of Muharram processions, he informed.
Special teams were formed to keep the route of Muharram processions clear, he said.
Muhammad Saleem Ashraf said that water tankers were also deployed on the routes of Muharram processions to provide clean drinking water to the mourners.
WASA Rawalpindi had already imposed a rain emergency, the MD said adding, the agency was ready to deal with any kind of emergency and all possible measures had been taken.
