FAISALABAD, Jan 04 (APP):The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) has accelerated the implementation of the Suthra Punjab Programme by carrying out large-scale desilting of sewerage lines in Tehsil Chak Jhumra to improve drainage and sanitation services.
A WASA spokesperson said on Sunday that, under the supervision of Managing Director WASA Saqib Raza, operations officers and staff conducted desilting work using modern machinery in key areas of Chak Jhumra.
He said that 50 sewer workers from the Operations Directorate were deployed to complete mechanical desilting along Sangla–Jhumra Road, Jhumra–Chiniot Road and Sabzi Mandi Road with the help of advanced bucket machines.
The WASA managing director said that under the Suthra Punjab Programme, mechanical cleaning of sewerage lines at the tehsil level would ensure improved and sustainable drainage services for citizens.
He added that accumulated wastewater at identified ponding points in Tehsil Chak Jhumra was also removed through dewatering sets and discharged into sewerage lines to prevent urban flooding and related health hazards.
The spokesperson said WASA was ensuring full compliance with the directives of the Punjab government, which is playing a vital role in restoring public confidence through visible improvements in municipal services.
