WASA directed to set up monsoon relief camps within three days

FAISALABAD, Jun 17 (APP): Managing Director (MD) Water & Sanitation Agency (WASA), Sohail Qadir Cheema, has directed officers to establish monsoon relief camps throughout the city within next three days.
After taking over charge of his office, he held an introductory meeting with WASA officers and took briefing about the overall performance of the agency. He highlighted the importance of preparedness ahead of upcoming rainy season and directed that WASA staff must be present in full uniform equipped with raincoats and boots while all necessary equipment should be available at each camp.
He said that all disposal stations must be fully operational with maximum capacity and contingency plans for uninterrupted operation in case of power outages should be in place.
It is top priority of the WASA to provide uninterrupted and high-quality drainage and water supply services during monsoon season, he said and added that all available resources will be utilized to achieve this goal.
MD Cheema also announced that he would conduct surprise visits to the relief camps after three days to ensure compliance and readiness.
He also stressed the need to boost revenue recovery and directed that monthly bill distribution must not face any delays or gaps rather special attention should be given to recover WASA dues from the areas with outstanding payments through comprehensive surveys.
He also instructed for daily testing of drinking water to ensure its quality.
He called for expedited progress on foreign-funded development projects including Eastern Wastewater Treatment Plant and French Surface Water Treatment Plant.
Deputy Managing Directors Shoaib Rasheed, Saqib Raza, Ikramullah Chaudhary, Director P&D Maqbool Ahmad, Director Finance Sheharyar Hassan, Director Operations Makhdoom Babar, Farooq Najeeb, Director PHS Shahbaz Latif, Project Director Wastewater Treatment Project Kamran Raza and others were also present in the meeting.
