KARACHI, Jul 10 (APP):Zone-VI and Zone-III registered dominant victories over Zone-II and Zone-VII, respectively, on the final day of the second round of the PCB Regional Inter District Senior (Karachi Region) tournament. Both winning sides secured nine points each.
The standout performers of the day were Waqas Akbar (166), Muhammad Usman (128*), Basit Ghouri (105*), and Sabeeh Siddique (104), who lit up the scoreboards with commanding centuries.
At KCCA Stadium, Zone-VI defeated Zone-II by 10 wickets. Zone-II posted 204 runs in their first innings, with a fighting 95 from Tariq Bakht. Muhammad Usman picked up 3/27, while Razaul Hasan and Zeeshan Zameer claimed two wickets each.
In their second innings, Zone-II managed 189 runs. Asad Akhtar scored 39, while Razaul Hasan and Muhammad Makki bagged three wickets apiece.
Zone-VI responded strongly with 330/8 in their first innings. Muhammad Usman remained unbeaten on 128, well supported by Abdullah Alam (82) and Haider Abbas (51). They then chased the required 42 runs in just five overs without losing a wicket.
At UBL Sports Complex, Zone-III overpowered Zone-VII, who were bowled out for 98 in their first innings. Fahad Amin starred with the ball, taking 4/35.
In their second innings, Zone-VII put up a better fight, scoring 324 runs. Sabeeh Siddique led the way with a brilliant 104, while Zafar Ali Khan contributed 52.
Zone-III dominated with the bat, piling up 395/5 in their first innings. Waqas Akbar smashed 166, and Basit Ghouri remained not out on 105. Fahad Ansari also chipped in with an unbeaten 51.
Zone-III ended the match at 31/1 in their second innings, sealing a comprehensive win.
