LAHORE, Oct 15 (APP): A special court (Central) will announce its reserved verdict on October 25 on the acquittal plea of former Punjab chief minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi in the money laundering case filed by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
According to a written order issued on Wednesday, Special Court (Central) Judge Muhammad Arif Khan Niazi reserved the decision after hearing detailed arguments from both sides. The court stated that the verdict would be pronounced on October 25.
The order further mentioned that Parvez Elahi was granted a one-day exemption from personal appearance after submission of a medical certificate from Services Hospital, in which the doctor advised him rest. The special prosecutor had earlier objected to the exemption plea, citing the absence of a supporting medical prescription.
The FIA had submitted a challan against Parvez Elahi and others on charges of money laundering. Meanwhile, Moonis Elahi, Parvez Elahi’s son, has been declared a proclaimed offender for his persistent absence from court proceedings.
