HYDERABAD, Jun 28 (APP):Vice Chancellor of the Government College University (GCU) Hyderabad Prof. Dr Amjad Ali Arain chaired a meeting with Heads of Departments on academic, administrative affairs at the University’s Syndicate Hall here the other day.
Registrar Dr. Ghulam Muhammad Bhutto was also present in the meeting.
The Vice Chancellor emphasized the need to strengthen research publications across departments. In this regard, it was decided that the university will support the launch of departmental research journals.
Director ORIC, Dr. Muhammad Shoaib, briefed the participants on the formation of editorial boards and encouraged departments to initiate the process.
The meeting also discussed professional development training programs for faculty members to enhance teaching quality and research output.
Commending the University’s recent achievement in the Times Higher Education (THE) Rankings 2025, the Vice Chancellor appreciated the efforts of the faculty, particularly acknowledging the contributions of the Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) and Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC). On the occasion, Deputy Director QEC, Mr. Hakim Ali Junejo, shared guidelines for aligning academic curriculum and research activities with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Looking ahead, the Vice Chancellor discussed plans to initiate an Urban forest project on campus in collaboration with the Mayor of Hyderabad, promoting a greener and more sustainable environment.
He also noted the successful completion of semester examinations, while discussed that postgraduate final examinations will be conducted after the summer holidays. Moreover, departments were directed to prepare the teaching classes timetable and finalize subject allocations for the upcoming semester.
It was announced that the University will reopen on August 11, 2025, following the summer vacation starting from July 01, 2025.
Regarding human resource matters, the Vice Chancellor directed all Heads of Departments to coordinate with Director HR, Mr. Najamuddin Sohu, for further discussions and development of departmental HR needs.
The meeting concluded with a collective commitment to continuing efforts for academic and institutional progress.
