Various food points penalized over hygiene violations

MULTAN, Jun 02 (APP):In a continued effort to ensure food safety and quality, the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) conducted a series of inspections across multiple cities including Multan, Mailsi, Burewala, Kabirwala, and Khaniwal, acting under the directions of the Director General. The operations targeted sweets production units, grocery stores, ice factories, bakeries, and dairy collection points.
The teams imposed heavy fines and discarded 30 liters of substandard beverages and five kilograms of unidentified and hazardous food additives. A sweets manufacturing unit was fined Rs. 20,000 for unhygienic conditions in the production area and the absence of a certified water quality report at BCG Chowk.
A grocery store was penalized Rs. 40,000 for selling expired soft drinks in Mailsi. A bakery was fined Rs. 20,000 for using unidentified and potentially harmful food additives and storing food items directly on the floor in Burewala.
Two dairy milk collection units were each fined Rs. 15,000 for low fat and nutritional content in milk and for operating without proper transaction records.
An ice factory was fined Rs. 15,000 after dead insects were found inside ice blocks in Kabirwala.
