MULTAN, Jul 29 (APP): US Deputy Chief of Mission Andrew Schofer appreciated the formation of Youth Assembly at Muhammad Nawaz Sharif University of Agriculture Multan and stated that youth were future of Pakistan and it could play role in promotion of civic, social justice and gender equality.
He said this while addressing ceremony of Youth Assembly, held under auspices of “HumAhang” at local hotel on Monday.
The US deputy chief of mission also lauded the active role of the varsity. He hoped that youth assembly would surely play its role for professional success by shaping minds of the students. He also pledged that US would continue to support such initiatives.
Andrew Schofer stated that he was first time visiting Multan. He however added that he was very happy to visit the city of the people who were sweet like mangoes and soft like cotton.
Dean Environmental Science Shafqat Saeed also spoke and stated that the youth assembly would serve as nursery to promote leadership skills amongst the student. The students would be able to resolve their issues by raising their voice in effective manner. He stated that it would lead students towards positive activities by ensuring and promoting peace building.
The representative of Youth Assembly also spoke and stated that it would help promote culture of tolerance by addressing extremism. It would give space to people to express their thoughts in amicable way.
HumAhang representative Mujeeba Batool, during her address stated that they were working in Multan, Muzaffargarh, Sukhar, Shikarpur and Khairpur. The initiative would help empowering the students, she remarked.
She said it will create sense of community engagements. She added that awareness was being imparted through workshops, theater performances, seminars etc. She hinted that dialogue was best option for endurable peace,
tolerance and pluralism.
The students presented performance on Sufi music and enthralled the audiences. They also captivated the spectators in panel discussion. On this occasion, US consul general Kristin K. Hawkins and a good number of students and teachers were also present.
