LAHORE, Nov 20 (APP):Punjab Minister for Information and Culture Azma Bokhari has said that the United States Congress has openly appreciated the eco-friendly reforms introduced by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, particularly regarding the modernization of traditional brick kilns.
In a statement on Thursday, the minister said that the Pakistan Caucus of the US Congress has written a special letter to the Chief Minister acknowledging the historic initiative of shifting outdated brick kilns to modern, environmentally efficient technology. She said this recognition reflects growing global appreciation for Punjab’s environmental reforms.
Azma Bokhari added that the Punjab government has taken exceptional and courageous steps to upgrade the brick kiln industry, ensure environmental protection, and eradicate child and bonded labour. She said that these measures are being recognized on international platforms, highlighting Punjab as a model for sustainable development.
She further stated that Maryam Nawaz’s modern brick kiln model has become a benchmark for the entire region and continues to receive international praise for its significant contribution to environmental sustainability.
