GILGIT, Sep 22 (APP): US Ambassador to Pakistan, Donald Bloom Friday called on Deputy Speaker Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) Assembly Sadia Danish and pledged to support for region development and walfare initiatives.
Member Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly, Sanam Faryad was also present on the occasion.
The meeting focused on matters of mutual interest and prominently highlighted the development and welfare of women in the region.
The ambassador expressed keen interest in various sectors within GB, recognizing the region’s potential.
Deputy Speaker Sadia Danish emphasized the challenges faced by women and proposed solutions.
She called for prioritizing students from Gilgit-Baltistan in scholarships and admissions to US educational institutions.
Furthermore, Deputy Speaker Danish underscored the untapped opportunities within the tourism sector of Gilgit-Baltistan and requested technical support and cooperation for its development.
She also shed light on the environmental issues the region faces, such as annual floods and rains due to climate change, resulting in financial losses for the local population.
Stressing the urgency of environmental protection, she called for serious measures.
The ambassador assured the deputy speaker of special support in the areas of environmental protection, tourism promotion, women’s development, and education for the people of Gilgit-Baltistan.
