NATHIAGALI, Jan 23 (APP):The scenic Galiyat region has been gripped by intense snowfall since late last night, with up to 3 feet of snow recorded in Ayubia and nearly 2 feet in Nathiagali, bringing life to a standstill across major tourist destinations.
Nathiagali, Ayubia, Khanspur, and Changla Gali are completely covered in thick layers of snow, significantly affecting road connectivity and movement.
Director General Galiyat Development Authority (GDA), Muhammad Fawad, said that the authority has placed its entire staff on high alert, cancelled all leaves, and mobilized field teams across the region to respond to the situation promptly.
He stated that heavy machinery has been deployed in all Galiyat towns, and snow clearance operations are in full swing to ensure public safety and restore traffic flow as early as possible.
The Director General assured that roads across the Galiyat region will be reopened for traffic at the earliest, subject to weather conditions.
Meanwhile, GDA has advised tourists to exercise extreme caution, strictly use snow chains, and adhere to all safety guidelines while traveling in snow-covered areas.
GDA control rooms remain fully operational to assist tourists and residents in case of emergencies.
