SARGODHA, Dec 02 (APP): Vice Chancellor of the University of Sargodha (UoS), Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas, participated in the Ninth CAREC Think Tank Development Forum held in Urumqi, representing Pakistan as an active member of the CAREC region.
The forum brought together regional experts and policy leaders to deliberate on strengthening collaboration within the CAREC Think Tank Network (CTTN).
Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas expressed appreciation to the organizers for successfully arranging the forum and initiating a critical dialogue on revitalizing the CTTN. He reaffirmed UoS’s strong commitment to advancing CAREC’s mission and enhancing regional cooperation through research, policy engagement, and strategic collaboration.
During the discussions, Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas engaged with members of the CAREC Think Tank and proposed key recommendations, including the establishment of a structured annual activity calendar featuring quarterly thematic dialogues, conducted virtually or in hybrid mode, focused on key regional priorities such as climate resilience, green financing, digital transformation, food security, and connectivity. He emphasized that regular thematic interactions would enhance knowledge-sharing and deepen policy engagement among member institutions.
Additionally, Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas highlighted the importance of forming specialized working groups in areas such as green economy, trade and transport, human capital development, and digital innovation. These clusters, he noted, would ensure continuous collaboration and enable focused research on pressing regional issues. He also underscored the value of producing joint policy briefs and rapid analytical updates on emerging challenges to enhance the network’s visibility, relevance, and impact.
