SARGODHA, Oct 29 (APP):Riaz Shad Co-Curricular Forum of the University of Sargodha (UoS) on Wednesday celebrated the Republic Day of Türkiye with a flag-hoisting ceremony held at the Vice Chancellor’s office grounds.
The event saw the Turkish flag raised at the university to honour the occasion, followed by a special prayer for the security and lasting friendship between the two brotherly Islamic nations.
Addressing the gathering, Pro-Vice Chancellor UoS Professor Dr. Masood Sarwar Awan affirmed that Turkiye is a sincere and long-standing friend of Pakistan.
He highlighted that Ankara has consistently provided full support to Pakistan in areas of trade, diplomacy, and during times of crisis, and has backed Pakistan on every international forum.
Dr Masood Sarwar Awan specifically mentioned the recent support from Turkiye, alongside China, during the “Maarka-e-Haq Bunyan-e-Marsous,” which led to Pakistan’s triumph and has since caused global powers to acknowledge Pakistan’s courage.
Furthermore, he noted that the two countries are advancing educational cooperation through key agreements focused on university admissions, technical education, and specific measures for student exchange programmes.
Director of the Co-Curricular Forum Dr. Munir Gujjar extended special congratulations to Turkiye on its Republic Day, expressing confidence that the friendship between UoS and Turkish institutions would continue to strengthen.
The ceremony concluded with a heartfelt prayer for the safety and prosperity of both countries, led by Principal College of Agriculture Professor Dr Ijaz Rasool Noorka.
In addition to the main ceremony, the Riaz Shad Co-Curricular Forum hosted a seminar as part of a week-long celebration of Türkiye’s Republic Day, which included detailed discussions on the fraternal relationship between the two nations, featuring experts from the university’s departments of History and Political Science.
