UE dispatches relief goods, medical team for 1,000 flood-hit families

LAHORE, Oct 13 (APP): The University of Education (UE), Lahore, has dispatched its first consignment of relief goods for one thousand flood-affected families impacted by the recent devastating floods and heavy rains across the country.
Alongside the relief supplies, a dedicated medical team comprising the Senior Medical Officer, faculty members, staff, and students left under the supervision of Professor Dr. Muhammad Umar Saleem, Convener Flood Relief Committee, to provide on-ground medical and humanitarian assistance. The team will establish two-day medical camps in Jalalpur Pirwala and Alipur, where senior doctors will examine patients and distribute free medicines.
The relief consignment includes dry rations, milk, biscuits, solar lights, clothes, bedding, quilts, and mosquito repellents, while the university team will also carry out mosquito control sprays in the affected areas.
Following the Punjab government’s flood relief initiative, Vice Chancellor University of Education, Professor Dr. Aqif Anwar Chaudhry, directed all campuses and divisions to immediately establish relief centers. Through the collective efforts of teachers, staff, and students, essential food and relief materials were gathered in record time and dispatched to flood-hit families.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Dr. Aqif Anwar Chaudhry said the nation, particularly Punjab, is confronting one of the most severe floods in its history, which demands continuous and sincere efforts. “As the winter season approaches, the need to support those still living under open skies has become even more urgent,” he remarked, emphasizing the importance of accelerating ongoing relief operations.
A large number of faculty members, staff, and students attended the dispatch ceremony.
