FAISALABAD, Feb 02 (APP): University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF), Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI), The University of Faisalabad (TUF), Riphah International University Faisalabad Campus, Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF) and Government College Women University Faisalabad (GCWUF) have joined hands to address key industrial challenges by developing a practical roadmap for technology transfer, capacity building, and problem-solving support for local industry as a step towards knowledge- based economy.
It was discussed at a meeting of the Academia –Industry Committee held at the Conference Room, Faculty of Sciences, University of Agriculture Faisalabad. The meeting brought together participants from industry and leading universities of Faisalabad to deliberate on collaborative solutions.
The meeting was chaired by the Convenor, Dr Habib Gaba, co-chaired by Chaudhry Waheed Ramay, Co-Convenor and conducted by Ms. Kanwal Farid, Secretary of the Meeting.
FCCI Standing Committee on Industry and Academia Liaison Convener Dr. Habib Aslam Gaba, said that collaborative platforms like the Academia–Industry Committee provide an effective mechanism to align university research, skilled human resources, and modern laboratories with the requirements of industry, which will ultimately enhance productivity, competitiveness, and sustainable industrial growth. He suggested to have dedicated meetings with a focus on SDGs for stronger collaborations between industry and academia.
Dean Faculty of Sciences, UAF Prof. Dr. Amer Jamil, in his address, stated universities have a critical responsibility to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and industrial needs. He emphasized that academia must move beyond theoretical research and actively contribute practical, innovative, and market-oriented solutions to address real-world challenges. He reaffirmed their support to industry through applied research, joint projects, consultancy, and technology transfer, and encouraged industries to engage more closely with universities for solution-based partnerships.
Small Power Loom Owner Association head Chaudhry Waheed Ramay stressed that collective and coordinated efforts will play a key role in strengthening the regional economy. He further highlighted the pivotal role of universities in providing sustainable and innovative solutions to challenges.
Riphah University Director Campus Faisalabad Dr Khalil Ur Rehman said that the joint fora provide an excellent opportunity to strengthen mutual trust between universities and industry, enabling sustainable partnerships that can lead to economic growth, employment generation, and technological advancement in Faisalabad.
GCUF Chairperson Mass Commination Dr Salma Umber said that collective and coordinated efforts will play a key role in strengthening the regional economy. She emphasized the pivotal role of universities in providing sustainable and innovative solutions to challenges.
