BUREWALA, Jul 25 (APP):Two alleged robbers were killed during two separate encounters with the Counter Crime Department (CCD) here.
According to police sources, the first encounter took place in the jurisdiction of Police Station Sadar Burewala near Chak 451/EB during a routine patrol. Upon spotting the police, unidentified armed robbers opened fire. In the exchange, one of the robbers was fatally shot, who was later on identified as Sohna Khan Bhatti, a resident of Chak 457/EB. His accomplices fled the scene during the police’s retaliatory fire.
Police said Sohna Bhatti was involved in 22 criminal cases including robbery and street crimes. A day earlier, he and his gang had reportedly committed a robbery near Latt Bhattian during which, upon resistance, they allegedly poured poison into a local resident’s mouth, resulting in his death.
In a separate incident near village 51/WB, the CCD personnel came under fire from armed robbers while on patrol. During the exchange of fire, a robber was killed, who was later on identified as Haq Nawaz, son of Allah Bakhsh, a resident of Kotli Mehtam, Karampur, Mailsi. He was also wanted in multiple cases, including murder and attempted murder.
Both bodies were shifted to hospital for legal formalities, while police have launched further investigations and search operations to apprehend the fleeing culprits.
