Two profiteers arrested, two shops sealed during crackdown

LAYYAH, Feb 24 (APP):A fine of Rs382,000 was imposed, two shopkeepers were arrested and two shops sealed during a crackdown on profiteering in Layyah district over the past four days.
The action was taken on the instructions of Deputy Commissioner Asif Ali, as price control magistrates intensified market inspections across the district.
According to a spokesperson for the district administration, more than 5,000 outlets were checked during the four-day campaign. Legal action was initiated against violators found involved in overcharging.
The administration said strict monitoring of essential commodities was continuing from wholesale markets to retail outlets to ensure price stability.
Officials maintained that providing relief to citizens, particularly during the holy month of Ramazan, remains the top priority. Price control magistrates and auxiliary staff have been directed to remain active in the field to curb profiteering.
