RAWALPINDI, Nov 13 (APP):The Ganjmandi Police have arrested two persons allegedly involved in gambling on a cricket match and recovered Rs 52,000 staked in the betting, a Rawalpindi Police spokesman said on Thursday.
The police registered a case and apprehended the accused during a raid. A car and mobile phones used in the gambling activity were also seized.
Superintendent of Police Rawal Saad Arshad said the detainees would be challaned in court with solid evidence, adding that gambling was a punishable offence under Section 5 of the Prevention of Gambling Act, 1977.
He reaffirmed that the Rawalpindi Police were determined to continue operations against all forms of illegal betting and gambling.
