RAWALPINDI, Nov 17 (APP): The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Rawalpindi has sentenced two accused to imprisonment and fines for attacking and injuring a police constable.
A case with FIR No. 144 was registered at Saddar Wah Cantt Police Station, in January 30, 2023.
According to the details, the court awarded Murad Khan alias Zulfy and Saleem Khan imprisonment along with an order to pay 50,000 rupees as compensation to the injured Constable Amir.
Judge Amjad Ali Shah of ATC No. 1 Rawalpindi presided over the case hearing. Based on the evidence presented by the prosecution and witness statements in today’s hearing, both accused were convicted. Under Section 337-F(v) PPC, they were sentenced two and a half years’ imprisonment, under Section 353 PPC, two years’ imprisonment and under Section 186 PPC, one year’s imprisonment, all to run concurrently.
Additionally, Murad Khan was ordered to pay Rs.50,000.0 as daman to the injured constable, while Saleem Khan was sentenced to one year under Section 13(2)(a) of the Punjab Armed Act 2015, along with a fine of Rs.10,000.0, or an additional 15 days of simple imprisonment in default.
The judge further stated that the accused were acquitted under Sections 324 PPC and ATA 1997, and they are entitled to the benefit under Section 382-B Cr.P.C. However, their release will only be possible after payment of the compensation money to the victim.
