Two-day Dosti Literary Festival begins at Bacha Khan Girls College

PESHAWAR, Nov 11 (APP):A two-day Dosti Literary Festival here Tuesday begin at Govt Girls Degree College (GGDC), Bacha Khan where students and faculty members paid glowing tribute to Poet of the East Allama Muhammad Iqbal.
Different stalls of handicrafts prepared by students were displayed in the impressive festival where large number of students participated.
The festival was also attended by students of four Girls Degree Colleges including Dabgari, Gulshan Rehman, Palosai, and Hayatabad No. 1.
Former Secretary Higher Education, Ms Farah Hamid as a chief guest inaugurated the festival.
She said that Dr Allama Iqbal’s vision and philosophy of selfhood had awakened Muslims of subcontinent to achieve a separate homeland where they could live with freedom and dignity.
She said that historic address of Dr Allama Iqbal at Allababad in 1930 has laid a clear vision for creation of Pakistan.
Principal GGDS Bacha Khan, Prof Zubia Qamar while higlighting the lieterary and political services of the legendary poet said that Dr Iqbal ignited resistance against colonialism, urging Muslims to reclaim their rights and identity through peaceful democratic struggle.
She said that Dr Iqbal vision was fulfilled by founder of the nation Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah who created Pakistan on August 14, 1947.
The speakers said that the existing challenges faced by the country today could be address by stricly adhering to the selfhood philosophy of Dr Allama Iqbal.
Later, the chief guest along with principal, faculty and spokesperson Ms Anila Nazli went around of the stalls and appreciated the students for the impressive handicraft prepared by them.
