Two Chilas flash flood incident victims laid to rest in Lodhran

LODHRAN, Jul 24 (APP):The funeral prayers for two members of a medical family hailing from Lodhran, who died in a tragic flash flood incident near Chilas, was held at ground of Shahida Islam Medical College and Hospital.
Allama Syed Hamid Saeed Kazmi led the funeral prayers. A large number of people from all walks of life attended the funeral prayers. MNA Siddiq Khan Baloch, Iqbal Channar, DPO Ali Bin Tariq, ADCR Syed Waseem Hassan, Ashraf Sial and others were present.
Later, the bodies were laid to rest at native graveyard. The body of the child, who went missing in the tragic incident, was also recovered and it would reach the city on Thursday night, said the family and police sources.
Seventeen members of a Lodhran-based medical family were caught in a flash flood near Chilas, resulting in the death of two family members and disappearance of a five-year-old child.
The remaining members were rescued and shifted to a safe location after receiving medical assistance.
The tragedy struck during the return journey from a recreational tour to Gilgit-Baltistan.
According to family sources, the family’s coaster van was swept away by a sudden flood near Chilas.
The deceased were identified as Fahad Islam, elder son of Shahida Islam Medical and Teaching Hospital’s owner and Dr Mishal Fatima, wife of Fahad’s younger brother Saad Islam.
The child, Abdul Hadi, son of Saad Islam, had gone missing in water flow.
