ISLAMABAD, Feb 14 (APP): A large-scale tree plantation event was held here Saturday aimed at increasing the forest cover of the Margalla Hills and protect the flora and fauna of the area.
The event titled “Revival of Margalla Hills Forest” was held in the Margalla Hills in the outskirts of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
As part of “Plant 4 Pakistan” campaign under Punjab Chief Minister’s green vision, the event was organized by the Punjab Forestry and Wildlife Department in collaboration private partners, including community stakeholders.
Around 1,500 to 2,000 participants took part in the drive, including members of the local community, students, minorities, Green Youth Ambassadors, NGOs, social activists, and vloggers.
The event focused on restoring greenery in an area of around 822 acres within the Margalla Hills, a significant zone known for its biodiversity and natural beauty surrounding the federal capital.
The participants emphasized that such community-driven efforts reinforce Pakistan’s commitment to climate resilience, afforestation, and wildlife conservation.
