LAHORE, Nov 21 (APP):Under the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz, the “Green Lahore Vision” continues to move forward with the launch of a large-scale tree plantation campaign along the Shadman and Gulberg drains.
Commissioner Lahore Mariam Khan, Deputy Commissioner Lahore Syed Musa Raza, and MD PHA Raja Mansoor Ahmad attended the inauguration ceremony as special guests and planted trees.
During a briefing to the Commissioner, MD PHA Raja Mansoor Ahmad stated that 1,200 bamboo plants will be planted along both sides of the Shadman Drain, while 3,000 bamboo plants will be planted around the Gulberg Drain. He further informed that a total of 45,000 bamboo plants are being planted along various drains across Lahore, of which 15,000 have already been completed.
The MD added that work is also underway on the “Lungs of Lahore” initiative, under which 450,000 plants will be planted, and on the Ring Road Forestation Project, which will cover 112 kilometers around Lahore. He further mentioned that tree plantation along the Shahdara to Raiwind railway track will also begin soon.
Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner Lahore Mariam Khan said that tree plantation is essential for combating pollution and smog. She emphasized that all possible resources will be utilized to ensure timely completion of ongoing PHA projects aimed at enhancing the environmental and aesthetic quality of Lahore.
She stated that a green and clean Lahore remains the core focus of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
Deputy Commissioner Syed Musa Raza reaffirmed the district administration’s commitment to the success of the “Green Lahore Program.” He said the ongoing tree plantation efforts will not only improve the city’s ecological balance but will also contribute to providing citizens with a cleaner, healthier, and more pleasant environment.
