LAHORE, Jul 13 (APP):Punjab Minister for Transport and Mass Transit Bilal Akbar Khan has issued directives to immediately address all issues at Metro bus and Orange Line train stations to ensure uninterrupted and affordable travel facilities for the public.
He also sought a detailed report on any damages or operational disruptions caused during the recent spell of monsoon rains. In his instructions to the relevant authorities, the minister stressed that security arrangements, availability of drinking water, functioning fans, and operational escalators must be ensured at all metro stations to facilitate passengers and prevent any inconvenience.
According to a spokesperson for the Punjab Mass-transit Authority (PMA), all stations are regularly monitored to ensure public amenities are fully functional. The spokesperson added that if any technical issue arises, it is addressed immediately with appropriate remedial measures.
During the recent rains, a sensor malfunction was reported in one of the electric escalators, which has since been repaired. Despite the weather conditions, metro tracks remained fully operational, and uninterrupted travel services continued for passengers across the network.
The PMA reiterated its commitment to providing safe, reliable, and efficient public transport services and assured that all necessary steps are being taken to maintain high service standards during the monsoon season.
