LAHORE, Oct 16 (APP): The Punjab Police’s pilot initiative “Tahaffuz Darsgah” has started delivering promising results, as a transgender student enrolled in the programme, has secured 70 percent marks in the Intermediate Part-I examination.
According to Punjab Police spokesperson, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, congratulated Abdul Rehman on the achievement, terming it a reflection of the safe, respectful, and enabling educational environment being provided under the initiative.
He said “Tahaffuz Darsgah” has emerged as a source of shelter, support, and hope for homeless, abandoned, and displaced transgender children. The facility ensures provision of residence, food, formal education, and vocational training, enabling the youth to reintegrate into society with dignity.
Dr. Usman further stated that comprehensive welfare measures are underway for the education and overall well-being of transgender children. In collaboration with the UK Curriculum and Accreditation Body, efforts are being made to deliver quality education and skill-based training through the initiative.
The IGP said “Tahaffuz Darsgah” has become a symbol of restored confidence and a commitment to securing a better future for the transgender community.
