LAHORE, Jul 29 (APP):A delegation of Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) from the 52nd Common Training Programme (CTP), currently under training at the National Police Academy, visited the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) headquarters on Tuesday.
The visit aimed to familiarise the trainee officers with the latest innovations in modern policing, particularly those involving artificial intelligence and integrated surveillance systems. Chief Operating Officer (COO) PSCA, Mustansar Feroze, conducted a detailed briefing on the Authority’s use of technology for effective law enforcement and crime prevention.
During the session, officers observed the operations of Smart Safe City Centers across the province, which are connected through a centralised monitoring system. They also witnessed real-time emergency response procedures, including calls received through the 15 Helpline and the immediate deployment of law enforcement resources.
The briefing highlighted the authority’s automated e-challaning system, powered by AI, which identifies and issues fines for 19 different traffic violations without human intervention. In addition, the officers were briefed on several citizen-focused digital initiatives, including: The Virtual Women Police Station, Child Safety Center, Virtual Center for Minorities, Virtual Blood Bank, Emergency Panic Button Program, Free Public Wi-Fi Services and Crime Stoppers Initiative
COO Mustansar Feroze emphasised that under the “Safe Punjab” vision of the chief minister, the Safe City project is being expanded to all districts of the province to enhance public safety and policing efficiency.
The trainee officers commended the PSCA’s state-of-the-art infrastructure and its alignment with international policing standards. They expressed confidence that such exposure and training will significantly contribute to transforming Pakistan’s policing landscape to meet modern-day challenges.
