ABBOTTABAD, Jun 27 (APP):Heavy rainfall on Friday caused water accumulation at multiple points from Supply Bazaar to the Complex, severely disrupting the normal flow of traffic in the city. The downpour particularly affected low-lying areas such as Malikpura, Kehal, Kunj Road, and the vicinity of Fawara Chowk, where waterlogging created major hurdles for commuters.
Traffic congestion worsened during peak hours as vehicles moved slowly through flooded stretches of road. Shopkeepers and residents in these areas reported difficulties in daily business and movement, with some streets rendered nearly impassable.
In response, Abbottabad Traffic Police personnel were swiftly deployed across the affected zones. Officers worked tirelessly to manage traffic manually, guide motorists safely, and ensure the flow of vehicles despite the difficult conditions.
A spokesperson for the Abbottabad Traffic Police stated that ongoing efforts are being made in coordination with Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) to improve drainage in the most affected areas. Authorities are also urging citizens to avoid unnecessary travel along routes known for water accumulation during rains.
Meanwhile, residents have appealed to the local government for a long-term solution to the drainage issues in low-lying parts of the city, which are frequently affected during monsoon spells.
