KHANEWAL, Dec 30 (APP): Traffic accidents in Khanewal district have dropped by 45 per cent due to effective enforcement measures taken by the traffic police under the public-friendly and safe traffic vision of the Punjab government.
District Police Officer Ismail Kharrak stated this while talking informally to journalists. He said that strict and indiscriminate action against traffic law violations had significantly improved road safety across the district.
The DPO said that during the current month, traffic police issued 20,673 challans, impounded 11,425 vehicles, and registered 169 cases against serious traffic violations. He added that special campaigns were carried out against riding motorcycles without helmets, one-way violations, overloading, over-dimension vehicles, non-standard number plates, black-paper vehicles, and underage drivers, adopting a zero-tolerance policy.
DPO Ismail Kharrak said the objective of strict enforcement is to protect lives and property, improve traffic discipline, and ensure a safer road environment. He urged citizens to act responsibly and make compliance with traffic laws a habit.
Meanwhile, the DPO also visited various busy intersections and chowks to review traffic arrangements, duty deployment, and traffic flow. He directed traffic officers to perform their duties with honesty, alertness, and professionalism, deal politely with citizens, and ensure uniform enforcement of traffic laws. He warned that negligence or laxity in duty would not be tolerated.
