Trader, local residents booked in FIRs of assault, power theft

HYDERABAD, August 31, (APP): The Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO) has booked a representative of a traders’ union besides 30 others in an FIR for allegedly manhandling the staff of HESCO during their field work.
According to the police, the FIR had been registered at Cantt police station on complaint of Sub Divisional Officer (SDO) Zeehsan Rajput, nominating the owner of a jewelry shop and others for assaulting linemen Sarfaraz and Abbass.
The incident happened on Saturday night in Chandni market in Saddar.The Cantt police are yet to arrest the accused.
Separately, the HESCO spokesman informed that during an anti-theft and recovery operation in the Paretabad Subdivision, 4 individuals involved in electricity theft were arrested and booked in an FIR.
According to him, 6 transformers were also disconnected in that area where a majority of the residents were found to be using illegal direct connections.
The spokesman claimed that the percentage of consumers paying their utility bills in the area in question was critically low at less than 5 percent.
